Along the south west coast of Sri Lanka,
there is a small town called Galle
there is a small town called Galle
with an UNESCO-certified fort.
We spent a day there, traveling back to Europe for a lovely couple of hours.

An UNESCO-marked building,
like, a WORLD HERITAGE SITE,
but yeah, it needed a little pimp-up with your eternal love,
VINO ♥ MARINA...
The streets in Galle Fort are white bricked,
boarded with small european-styled shops and cafés.
Everything was expensive(r), of course,
but God did it feel good to be in a familiar environment.
And of course, expensive in Sri Lanka is rarely expensive for real.
We stayed an hour or two in Pendlar's Café,
drinking sweetened ice coffee and hiding from the gazing sun.
Then we strolled the streets for the perfect Gelato.
I don't know if we found the best one but OH was it needed.

There's even a beach inside the wall.
The land on the other side of the water is where we stayed.

PRACTICAL
INFORMATION
---
GETTING THERE
FROM UNAWATUNA, HIKKADUWA OR COLOMBO
Buses run frequently and are marked GALLE.
Prices shouldn't be more than 25 LKR per person,
You might not get change back so give the exact amount.
Many trains also stop at Galle.
From Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa they run a couple of times a day.
See this site for train schedule:

GETTING AROUND INSIDE
You'll be approached by a lot of tuktuk drivers
telling you there's a whole 8 km walk to get around,
but really, it's about 2 and the best way to explore it is by foot.
---
PRICES
Entering the fort area is free, as well as walking on the wall.
The small shops and cafées on the other hand is a lot mor expensive than outside.
Think about your average tourist town
and that's about how much higher a percentage you'll pay.
Despite all this though, this is still Sri Lanka.
You can probably afford 400 LKR (2 USD/ 20 SEK) ice lattes
without breaking the bank.
