Mona, a friend from high school, spent four months as an exchange student in Singapore, and was eager to tell me about every little hidden gem the country and it's surroundings had to offer.
"First tip - upon arrival, google
"What's happening this week in Singapore".
There's always something going on, whether it's food festivals, jazz festival, arts, music, drinks... They really like festivals, haha.
TimeOut Singapore is the first resault and we used it all the time."
Other than that, Mona had a lot of great tips for any week in Singapore...

WHAT TO DO & SEE
WHAT TO DO & SEE
SUPERTREES LIGHT SHOW
By Gardens by the Bay, there is a light show every night for free.
7.45 pm or 8.45 pm every night.
- ֍ -
It takes two hours to get there by boat, one night there is enough. Bintan is an isle in Indonesia
- Just be mentally prepared for the horde of taxi drivers welcoming (/"attacking!") you when arriving at the island.
"As we waited on our prebooked taxi, a horde a men approched us and couldn't take no for an answer, I mean, AT ALL. As Bintan is a part of Indonesia, they have the typical approach of someone who does not get today's salary if you don't buy their services, which can be really unpleasent."
SPECTRA LIGHT AND WATER SHOW
Seen at the Marina Bay dock, there is a laser show available to see from the dock.

They were sold everywhere and cost about 2-3 SDN, basically nothing for that mouth-gasm."
EXPERIENCE BUGIS AREA
"I really loved Bugis! They have great malay and lebanese cuisine and a lot of cool shops.
It is quite touristy and pricey but there's some gems. It's really the hipster area.
There was even a Swedish café with semlor and meatballs called FIKA."
SENTOSA ISLAND
Other than hosting Universal Studios, this fake-island has four man-made beaches. Mona rolled her eyes at me when I said I had no idea about this place, refered to it as being one of the most famous spots in Singapore - "kind of like Dubai (but less glamourous)".
They even had fake rocks made of sand bags.
Mona has one last thing to say about Sentosa:
"DON'T SPEND NEW YEARS ON SENTOSA. JUST. DON'T. People are partying so hard life guards wandered around with passed out youngsters over their shoulders looking drowned."
CHINA TOWN DURING NEW YEARS
If you happen to be in Singapore during the Lunar New Year (in 2018: 16th of February), China Town is where to celebrate. Unfortunately me and Julia will miss it by two days, but for you luckier people, this is a must-see.
AND FOR PARTYING...
"Tuesdays are Ladies night!"
KOUFU FOODCOURT BY SMU
By the SMU student area, there is a great foodcourt with really cheep food. It was us students and oldies there basically...

SRI MARIAMMAN TEMPLE
The most famous Hindu temple accoring to the locals, here is where we stumbled upon a free meal as they held a certain ceremony at the time we visited.
I do not know exactly what they did... They might have cleaned up their statues? Don't write that, it makes me sound so dumd..."
Address: 244 South Bridge Rd, Singapore 058793
BUDDHA TOOTH RELIC TEMPLE AND MUSEUM

BEST, CHEAP VIEW IN SINGAPORE
Take MRT-card, activate it for passing by the desk at the lowest level and be at the Pinnacle@Duxton in China town at dusk.
You'll have to pay 8 SDN and then you'll go all the way up with your MRT-card but the view is as good as the one from Marina Bay Sands.
