CHANGES OF PLANS FOR ASIA 2.0

It feels like we've spent weeks with our faces glued to our computers now. We have looked at transportation, attractions, food och customs, re-doing the routes and changing days for departures.

A lot of things have changed just the last cople of days.

Like..

¤ We skip Shanghai due to its lack of Disneyland at the time we should've visited...

¤ We also skip Ho Chi Minh due to poor budget (Jonathan only gets about 6 hours/week in january & february at his work...) and lack of things we are really exited about there.
It also feels kinda... sad. The trip is getting shorter. We've talked it over a lot today and we comfort ourselves with the fact that we can always come back for the things that gets cut-off, and probably, we will.

¤ Also because of money, we try to cut down on expences such as flights and hotels. First we wanted to spend a maximum of 35 dollars per person and night on hotels because, let's face it, we are suckers for good, clean and unique hotels. That costs though.
But traveling is about going out of our comfort zone, so we started to look for hotels for about 24 dollars a night instead, and found out that wasn't so hard to find, without missing out on memorable hotel-experiences.

¤ We do want to explore China more. China has so many nice cities, like Chongqing, Hangzhou, Guilin, GuangzhouXi'an...  It comes as a surprise to us that we feel this way, because a year ago we didn't even think twice about this marvelous country.
It's a fun thing to see how we grow, that we suddenly want to explore more than the familiar, convienent capitals of the world.

¤ I for one feel less worried about traveling for days by train. That is also something we talked about, trying to figure out the best way to get from Zhangjiajie to Beijing. The sky has always been the way for us. Maybe we can evolve on this trip?

¤ I've swalloved my pride and started to look at day-trips. Organized. By somebody that is not me.
Huu.
But by looking at the possibilities, the prices, the routes, the understanding you can get for a place when you learn about its history... It actually sounds like something we could enjoy.
I might step down from my high horses as Reise-führer.

Do you have any tips for our trip?

Please leave a comment as it would mean so much to us!
