TOBOGAN AND ZIPLINING IN HALLAND

So we went south in the most wonderful way possible - we went to visit Felicia's aunt in the tiny community Kvidinge in Skåne. Tagging along were also Felicia's sister Julia, 19 yo, and her brother Victor, 15 yo.

Coming from a somewhat stressful, modern city like Gothenburg, going to Skåne makes it feels like you're going back in time, or that the time has stopped. All three of the Axelssons have always visited Skåne during summers and family bithdays, so that might be a reason for the nostalgiac feeling.
Last year, we invited Jonathan to this tradition and soon it became a must even for him.

When arriving at aunt Cina's idyllic house that is pretty much equipped with everything you'll ever need in a Swedish summer, like an outdoors hot tub, a strawberry garden, a glassed-in porch, it was hard imagining finding a reason for even leaving the grounds.

Luckily, Cina is a master at finding things to do and we left for Kungsbygget, a ski slope that turns in to a tobogan/zipline in the summer.

The drive takes about 40 minutes from Kvidinge, or a 2 hour drive from Gothenburg. You'll find the exact way if you click here.

When we arrived, we started by buying tickets.
Of course nothing is even smooth in our family, so we spent fifteen minutes just discussing which pack we should take.

Prices look like this:

Like prevously said, there is both a tobogan and a zipline to choose from. The Tobogan, or rodel, is one ticket á 60 SEK per person. You use the same tickets for the zipline, but for that you need 3 tickets per person.

We settled on 15 tickets for a total of 780 SEK. Since Cina was happier carring our bags than actually going on the rodel, that ended up being 195 SEK per person. So far so good.

We started with the tobogan, figured we could go at least 2 times each if Julia and Jonathan also wanted to try the zipline.

And off we went.

The slide-like track is roughly 1 km long and you can reach really high speed at times, so the adrenalin was flowing like crazy after the first go and we were eager to go again.

GOOD TO KNOW:
You'll have to go with an adult if you are under 8 years old.

Julia and Jonathan was also quite eager to try the zipline. For this one, you'll need 3 tickets (= 180 SEK).

First, you have to dress like this:

Could be models for a construction worker magazine...

The bus up to the platform from where the zipliners jump leaves as soon as it's full, which doesn't take long in peak season.

The highest parts of the line are about 70 meters high. The whole line is about 740 meters and takes under 2 minutes to ride. To go on the zipline you have to weight between 30-120 kg and be sober, it says on the webpage (in Swedish).

Julia has some things to say about the experience in this video (English translation under).

Julia: First, I was up on the platform and was so nervous I was about to pee my pants. And then I wantfurther out on the platform, because we said we weren't to run and jump so we walked slowly.

Jonathan: We went all the way to the edge...

Julia: Oh god I shouldn't have done that! That made my stomage turn upside down... And then I was like.. "I'll die now, I'll die now"...
Then I let go and I was like AAAAAARGHHHH....
And then it was like riding something at Liseberg (Scandinavia's biggest amusement park and coincidentally also, both of the idiots writing this blog's work place, editor's note.), you know, that tingeling feeling in your stomage...
And then it was like... "Just breathe just breathe just breathe"
And then the pace got slower so you could just enjoy everything.. like from here in the middle (camera turns upwards)
And then you aren't really prepared for the breaks so you just go BOOOOM! ...But the stopping is actually smooth! Yeah, I'm pleased. (Shows thumb up).

Felicia: How many "toasers?" (Five out of five toasters is highest score possible, editor's quite obvious note.).

Julia: 4,5 out of 5.

Victor (in the background): Oj!

Felicia: That's a good score... Back to the studio.
