CHEWING GUM WALL OF SEATTLE

We decided to take the feet down to Pike Place Market this morning. We have rented a flat on first avenue, so almost everything tourist-y in Seattle is walking distance.

We hadn't gone for more than five minutes when we arrived at another famous tourist place by accident, and probably the most disguisting one available in the whole state:

THE CHEWING GUM COVERED WALL

The level of excitement and disgust was equally high.

The tradition of putting gum up on the wall began in 1993, and became a real tourist attraction in 1999. Last november they had to take all the gum down for a scrub since the germs from the gum were starting to damage the underlying bricks, which took 130 hours to complete. After it was done, people were once again allowed to put up gum on the wall.

And off course we had to contribute!

Swedish Extra chewing gum,

Tourists of Seattle, you're welcome.
