WE ARE MAKEOVERED!

"7000... what?"

"...Sure I can write it down...."

Oh god were we tired of that.
Trying to brand when you barely remember your own blog name?
Not our best idea...

SO NOW we're still two idiots on the road and I don't think any amount of traveling will change that, but our blog name is officially

- SUITCASEPACKING -

...!!!

SO WHAT IS 'SUITCASEPACKING'?

Short version:
Fancy and comfortable backpacking!

Long(er) version:

Despite being How You Pack A Suitcase, according to Google, it's the name the best describes this way of traveling that we've come to love and identify ourselves with.

- SUITCASEPACKING - is our way of flirting with the traditional way of experiencing parts of the world - "on a shoestring", "with a backpack", "at a certain point and age of your life" etc. ➝ ∞  - and at the same time marking that we don't really obey unwritten rules that comes with traveling on those paths. I mean, we've broken the first, essential one:

We leave our rucksacks at home
and stuff our worlds in bigger, less smelly suitcases.

So - SUITCASEPACKING - still includes a lot of the things people love about backpacking; taking one day at the time, being excited over new horizons and having the possibility to travel for a long time without being rich; but our purpose is to do it without the competetion of 'Who's traveling the cheapest' or 'Living closest to nature/having the least need for comfort.' that can be the downsides with backpacking and comparing.

"Oh, you're doing kind of a...
weird way of backpacking?"

"That's because we're not backpacking.
We're SuitcasePacking!"

BUT WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE, REALLY
FROM TRADITIONAL BACKPACKING?

We took curiousity over the world, poured in some Felicia & Jonathan-extravaganza and blended with a relaxed attitude to time and money.

More in detail
How It's Done

- We have put more money on hotels than our backpacking friends do. We have higher budgets so our rooms, be it a hotel or a hostel, often have air con and are convenient, clean and within walking distance from the buzz.

- We keep to the backpacking trail but stay longer in the locations and sometimes stray from the beaten "off-the-beaten"-track.
We have friends that thought we were crazy for staying in general eight days in the same place, but we think that usually a city has so much more to offer when you get to know it a little deeper. Going somewhere just to check it off the bucketlist is not really our idea of a perfect trip.

- We love fantastic sights, both in nature and in the city, but we doesn't always think that the most famous sight is the most exciting one.
Our motto: Always ask ourselves what we WANT to do.

- We still wash our clothes in the sink and buy food at foodstalls, but we don't put prestige in surviving on the tiniest budget, as even though that is a good story to tell when you come back ("We only paid 2 dollar for a hostelroom! And it was lice in the walls!"), it doesn't make us feel good while we're traveling...

-...Which is the number one reason for leave our home. You want to feel good, even better, than you do at home when your on the road. And for us, it means putting more money into the traveling budget.

And finally

- We are humble when it comes to admitting we are often tourists. Sometimes we are adventurers, sometimes we live life full backpacking-style, but most often we are newbies in an exotic, foreign country, and then we just follow the stream of tourists for the first days.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is to inspire anyone who ever thought about going on a longer trip to get out there and do it, both by showing how and where to, and also help awakening the desire to see the world by showing the amazing places we've seen.

We want to be (some of) the answers to 'WHERE TO NEXT' and 'WHAT TO DO HERE? We want to be able to answer the question 'WHY?' with 'Because it looks like THIS and you can do THIS and it was THIS good/bad/fantastic...' and so on.

When our friends are going to parts of the world we've been to, we love when they come up to us for advice, but we want to have more than what we can come up with on the spot. We want to give them a place to read about it in their own pace, that is easy to navigate around and, now, easy to remember.

AND THE NEW HEADER?

It was a long way to huff and puff up just to get the one you see above.

It started around here...

... And strolling by this...

... Until, a late, late monday night/tuesday morning deciding on this,
too tired to care anymore...
