WHEN LIFE IS LEMON-ISH, TAKE A WEEKEND TRIP - 24 hours in Stockholm

Although Gothenburg is The Best Swedish Town - true story -, we do come second in one area: the musical scene, as in having more than one musical currently playing. Because of that, we had to go all the way to the grand capital to see the Swedish production of Book of Mormon.

We had the fortune to stay at relatives, as Jörgen, Felicia's mother's boyfriend, so kindly opened up his home to us.

When trainprices are what they are, our two night stay resulted in only one day in Stockholm, as the cheapest train left from Gothenburg at 8 pm friday night and the return trip started early sunday morning. But even though that, we had time to spend 24 great hours in Stockholm.

Here's our day.

THE DAY STARTED AT..

8:00: We had arrived in the middle of the night the night before, but still, we said to go up at 8 to make the most of the day. We stayed at Jörgen's house in Lidingö, so the ride in to central Stockholm was about half an hour.
Jörgen and Felicia's mum woke us up at said time and had prepared a great breakfast for us. So we sat and ate and enjoyed and didn't mind the time passing a little bit faster than it should.

10:30: Felicia had put her make up on, all the batteries were charged and Jonathan had gotten OK on today's beard-length, so finally, we were good to go. We took the tram to Ropsten and from there it was a short ride to Gamla stan, old town.

Luckliy, no ride is ever boring when you're dating an idiot.

TIP!

Every ride is about 30 sek,
which easily make a one-day-pass at 120 sek or 3 days for 240 sek worth it.

Head to Pressbyrån or any tourist center
and buy the Access-card instead of buying singles.

11:00: Stortorget makes a great backdrop for travel-selfies with it's vintage-like buildings in bright colours. The snowflakes made perfect details in the pictures, but it was no weather for strolling, something we realized fast. We tried out the new Instax Mini 70, a snapshot-camera that runs on Fujifilm, and then headed to a café for something warm.

TIP!

There are a lot of cafés in the Old town area that are great for trying out Swedish fika
but the area in all is quite (very) expensive as it is a highspot for tourists.

If you do decide on spending your fika money here,
we recommend you trying the Swedish-typical
Kladdkaka (Mudcake) or Kanelbulle (Cinnamon bun)
- the latter being Jonathan's guilty pleasure.

13:30: The whole reason we were in Stockholm was to see the Book of Mormon at China Teatern, which actually is the first version of the musical in another language than English, so we started to slowly pace our wat to the Kungsträdgården and Sttandvägen-area. We were so excited we forgot to eat lunch, so wine had to do... #champagneproblems...

15:00: The show started and two hours past rapidly. Overall we liked it a lot and would actually like to see it in it's original language some day. Like on Broadway...

18:00: By 6 p.m, we were home in Lidingö again and was greeted with dinner all prepared and a visit from Jörgen's kids. It was the start of a couple of hours worthy of a movie montage accompanied with music from Spotify playlist "Feel good Friday".
After a day filled with so many impressions, we almost didn't need to close our eyes before we fell asleep at 11.30.

Even if risking to sound extremely sentimental, we have to say the day had been everything we could hope for. It's funny how life gives you gifts like that sometimes. We allowed ourselves to do nothing but accept it, and stay in the moment for a while to cherish the good times.

The last couple of months have been hectical and stressful and filled with meaningless arguments and pop-up problems, so we really needed this.

So

WHEN LIFE IS LEMON-ISH, TAKE A WEEKEND TRIP
