TALES OF ASIA: Day 4 - 6

Hi there. Long time no see hah?
We've been good. We've been lazy. We've been parking our butts on the sunbeds besides the pool.
That is, of course, after we'd fixed that
we've been

really

really

stupid.

MISTAKE NUMBER #3:

NOT DOUBLE-CHECKING WHAT AIRPORT
THE FLIGHT IS ACTUALLY LEAVING FROM

And I cant stress this enough unless you're walking around with 2380 THB you just HAVE to throw away on something completely unneccesary.

So we left our hotel in Bangkok on the morning of the 10th, confident that we could just go down to the station and take the airport line all the way to, what we thought, Bangkok's ONLY airport.

Long story short, we bought new tickets and left the same time we were supposed to, only in a diffrent plane from a different airport for a neat little sum of $68 USD.
After that we were down for a while. It did not help that we arrived to Chiang Mai only to realize that our safety net, the public transport system, were nowhere to be found in this Capital of Northern Thailand.
They had taxi though. Taximeter-taxis. As that was the name of the taxi company.
We were already irritated at our selves for spending so much money in vain, and knowing fixed prices usually suck, we scanned th area for options better than this. There was none. We just had to surrender.

BUT
We arrived at our hotel and the sky cleared. We were going to spend 3 days in this jungle fortress:

Stop flexing honey

And no, we did not live in this pool. We just stayed there every waking hour.

And like that the days got longer. The sun brighter. The our brains and bodies lazier. We stopped the time and it felt awsum.

...UNTIL MAYOR MISTAKE NUMBER TWO OCCURED IN THE VERY SAME DAY.
Sometimes I hate us.

MISTAKE NUMBER 4#:

Waiting until last second
(or like, three-five days before, which, we
learned the hard way,was way way too late)

ENP. Elephant Nature Park. 62 spots left one week ago. 43 spots threedays after that. That's a lot of spots, we thought, there's really no rush. We'll see in which direction the nearest days go.

Well,
they went south

Fullbooked. All of it until the 21st, or 2..7th, or something. Way too late in which case, because of our precious hotel reservaton in Railay that we fought so hard for. (Meaning: we looked. it was full. we looked again later. full. we looked again two weeks later OHJONATHAN LOOKTHEYHAVEAROOMNOW!)

So what did we do?
We thought about staying longer in Chiang Mai but even though we love the hotel, we felt kind of limited without the possibilty to take a 10 Baht bus instead of a 200 baht taxi.
In the end, we ended up booking a short stay at ENP and just decided that that would do.

_____________________________________________

So it's been a lot of frustrations the last couple of days and we needed a little break. We took advantage of our fantastic hotel's free shuttle to the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar area, and ended up in a strange place smelling like durian and thousands of people's sweat. I'm kidding. It smelled like durian, thaifood and at most hundred people's sweat.

But we liked it.

I bought stuff. New pants since you know those that I bought long time ago in Bangkok three days ago? They broke and I cried coz they were perfect.

Tomorrow we're heading north to Rabeang Pasak Tree House, stay there for two nights and then return to Rainforest Boutique.
One might say we should widen our perspectives a little and maybe try another poo.
To them we say: We will. Next visit we will explore the other pool on Rainforest.

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS ROUNDUP!

ARE THERE ANYTHING WE
CAN'T MISS BEFORE HEADING TO KRABI?
