AFTERNOON IN VICTORIA

DAY FIVE
MASTERING STROLLING IN VICTORIA

The sky was clear, more azure than cornflower blue. The temperature was hot, but not unpleasantly. North America, especially South Canada, has been under a massive heat wave the last couple of days, but whereever we've been, the perfect middle temperatures seems to have followed.

We had started and spent the most of the day in Royal British Columbia Museum (more on that will /hopefully/ end up on this blog but the pictures are a butt to edit due to really poor lighting and blurry pictures) and when we came out, it was way past 3 o'clock. Still to early for supper, we decided to stroll.

Ah strolling. We headed for the dock and let the feet lead the way.

In this massive old victorian house you can have Afternoon tea, in true British Columbia-spirit. Hopefully we'll have one of those before parting for Seattle.

FISHERMAN'S WHARF

5 years ago, almost on the day, we were in a different Fisherman's Wharf - in San Francisco. This was quite different though. Here, a lot of boat were turned in to bed and breakfasts. People actually seemed to live on the boats as well.

It is possible to see sea lions, which we were lucky enough to do today. A big crowd quickly gathered as the cute creature rose to the surface to grab the baby octupus a women tried to lure him with. Unfortunatly I was to preoccupied with watching to take photos. Which, once in a while, actually might be a good thing. To actually live in the now, not only document it.

DINNER @  BELLEVILLE'S
Diner & Bar

Happy hour 3 pm - 6 pm. 6 $ for highballs and 5 $ for house wine. We were perfectly satisfied with coke zero though. As ush.

Sat outside and enjoyed a waterfront view. Food was usually under 20 $ and tasted good. Service very good. Canadian boys are always so... let's call it nice. ;)

This sight in the bathroom left me a little bit uneasy though. Why is there a need for a sign like this?

THE EMPRESS FRONT

We'd parked the car in the parking lot under the major hotel The Empress. The hotel is probably the biggest I've ever seen, looking more like a real castle than a hotel. They're supposed to have a real nice Afternoon tea there as well... for those with a lot of money...

After that, we pretty much begged for going home. Going to bed by 10 pm local time and waking up by 8 am is still not enough to not be exhausted in the late afternoon. I might look 16 but my body behaves like a 80-year-old.

Hope you have more energy than I have.

Stay tuned (did I really just write that?) for the pictures from RBCM and our future visit to Miniture World. You would NOT like to miss that. I think. I havn't been there yet.
